For instance, once children areaware that their grandparents and even their parents did not have a goodupbringing during their hard childhood, they will stop complaining about theprevious generations’ obsoleteness. In the meantime, once old people realizeyoung people are nurtured in a new modern way, it is easy for them to betolerant of young people’s new habits or hobbies.

Secondly, people of each generation should not developa very high feeling about themselves. In order to do that, they should notthink that they are the only right people in their family because each personhas his or her own limitations. Teenagers would realize that their parents haveto struggle with pain to support them financially, and they would stop rebellingtheir strictness. Parents would realize that their children’s new style does noharm to their studies and stop imposing their own unsuitable standards on theirchildren.

Though many aspects of our social life have been improved, the generation gap between the youths and the olders remain and even grows wider.

In my opinion, because of the influence of individualism from western civilization, the youths do not blindly follow what the elders say, that causes the gap. The young arecreative and revolutionary, always go along with the trend and like changing. While the old, accustomed to everything of the past, are hostile to change. Also with more and more different beliefs and philosophical ideas, it is natural the young hold different opinions from the old.

I think in order to narrow the gap, both parts should try to understand and respect each other, instead of trying to change others as they wish. Diversity doesn‘t mean conflict so long as they hold the right attitude towards the problems.

虽然我们社会生活的诸多方面，已经得到了改善，但年轻人与老年人之间的代沟仍然存在，甚至在扩大。

依我来看，因为受西方个人主义的影响，年轻人不再盲目跟随老人们的说法，而这导致了差距。年轻人富有创造性和革新的力量，始终顺应潮流，喜欢变化。而老人们则习惯了过去的一切，不喜欢改变。同时也有越来越多的不同信仰和哲学思想，这自然造成了年轻人与老年人持有不同意见。

If we give it a closer watch, we can find that the gap that the woman is walking through is a generation gap. At both sides of the gap, stand, respectively, a young couple, startled and an aged man, encouraging his old wife to be brave.

The purpose of the drawing is to show us that utmost importance should be attached to generation gap which is prevalent in the current society. At least two fundamental factors could contribute to the existence of this phenomenon. To begin with, people receive different education and form different outlooks of the world. The education children receive today is different from that of their parents, thus, conflict between parents and children seems unavoidable. In addition, lack of communication also accounts for the fact. On the one hand, being too much occupied with their work and personal affairs, younger generation offers no chance for the parents to communicate with them. On the other hand, many parents also fail to realize the importance of communication.

The solution to the generation gap is communication. Fortunately, as the picture revealed, the aged generation has already taken the initiative towards the way to communication. It is high time that we, the youngsters, made our own contribution to the solution of this problem.
