I’d like to share with you an interesting historical event that happened in Xia Dynasty. It’s a story in our history textbook about a stupid king whose name I couldn’t remember exactly. Anyway, this king married a queen who was drop-dead gorgeous, however, there’s one thing that really bugged him, and that is, his queen hardly ever smiled, and that’s how she got the nickname “Ice Queen”. The King racked his brains trying to find a way to make her smile, but failed every time. He even promised that anyone who could put a smile on the queen’s face would get a thousand boxes of gold. One day, someone at the court suggested that the king could light the warning beacons that are normally used to summon armies from surrounding states in times of danger. He explained, the queen must find it hilarious when the nobles arrived and realized they got played. The king thought he had a point, so he took the advice. And the guy was right. The queen did burst out laughing when she saw the nobles hurry to the court only to find that it was a false alarm. If you ask me, the king was so out of line, and the worst part is, he did the same thing several times to please his queen, and finally lost the trust of the nobles. When he was actually in danger, no one came to his rescue.
So you see, it’s kind of a funny and sad history story, and somehow it’s usually told as a cautionary tale of how one beauty can topple a country.

1.I'd like to talk about a wrong decision made by a friend of mine, which I think is a big mistake. She decided to spend a large sum of money going to London to learn English.I think it's not worth it .
2.At that time, she had a terrible argument with her parents. She told them if they didn’t pay the tuition. She would give up on herself. You probably think it's kind of a threat from a teenager girl, but she meant it.Her parents were so worried. Later, they agreed to support her. After all, she's the most important person in the world for them .
3.After she told me about it,I was very angry. Her family is a typical work class family. Her parents work so hard to to make ends meet and provide her with everything the best they can give. But learning english in London is going to cost them a fortune, probably their entire life saving. You know, how high the cost of living in London is.
4.I couldn’t agree with her decision.Because it's not right. There's nothing wrong to chase your dreams,as long as you pay it.Her parents have no obligation to pay it for her.
I also think it's not necessary. There are some cheaper, effective ways, like taking online english courses, practicing english with language partners. As the old saying goes'There's will,There's a way.

My grandparents’ village is by the Huang He River. He told me we should have a competition, which took me by surprise. In that heat and in that kingdom of boredom, what competition could we have, to see who could survive longer standing in the burning sun without drinking any water? He proceeded by explaining that we should each dig a piece of mud, make it into a shape of a bowl, cast it onto the ground upside down and then see whose bowl make the biggest sound. It sounded stupid in the beginning and failed to intrigue me. But when Daniel jumped into the river and did as he explained, I decided to try. It honestly felt awesome to have hands and feet inside the cool mud and water. And the explosion of the mud bowl miraculous excited me.

最新雅思口语Part2话题答案: your favourite weather
You should say:
what kind of weather it is
when this weather usually occurs
what you usually do during this weather
how this weather affects you
and explain why you like this type of weather.
参考范文
Ok, well I’d say my favourite weather would have to be sunny weather, which I guess is the same for most people.
And as for when this weather usually occurs, well unfortunately, not often enough! Because where I’m from, it seems torain the whole time, and when it’s not raining, the sky’s usually quite cloudy, so we don’t really get all that much sun in my hometown, but hopefully this year will be a bit better – fingers crossed!
Anyway, regarding what I usually do when it’s sunny, well I guess it probably depends on how much free time I have. So I mean, if I only have a little bit of free time, then I might just go for a walk around my neighbourhood or chill out for a bit in the gardens of my apartment complex. And if I have more time, then I might arrange to play some tennis or basketball with a few friends, although if it’s too hot then I probably wouldn’t bother.
And with regard to how this kind of weather affects me, well basically, I’d say it normally always puts me in a good mood. So for example, waking up with the sun shining through the windows is always a great feeling, as I’m sure you’ll agree. And another thing to mention would be that the traffic usually tends to be better on sunny days than rainy days, so it means that I can get to work quicker. It’s funny, because it always seems that there are more cars on the road on rainy days, which I can never quite figure out!
Anyway, finally then, as for why I like sunny weather the most, well, I suppose it’s really a combination of reasons, one of which would be that there are generally more things you can do when the sun's out, like playing sport and walking around outside without getting wet! And as I mentioned a bit earlier, it’s much easier getting around when it’s sunny, for example, the roads are less congested and it’s normally a lot easier to find a taxi, as you may have found out yourself!
So yeah, I guess that pretty much sums it up, and I wish I could wake up to a bright sunny day every morning!
